Each of the pieces in this collection is fab and one perspective of the whole. I did just want to make mention of the beautifully penned essay by Ataria Sharman (Ngāpuhi, Tapuika) that would be a helpful framework for this collection. Also the words of Ruby Solly (Kai Tahu, Waitaha, Kati Māmoe), who in this and in her debut poetry collection Tōku Pāpā reasserts pre-colonial heterogeneity of Māori and specific narratives and traditions of mana whenua through the odes written in honour of her Southern roots and matriarchs. Beautiful collection in and out!- @ns510reads
